September Mission: Corning Meals on Wheels
Our church has a long history of involvement with Corning Meals on Wheels. Many of our members have been or are board members, and many more have been participating in weekly deliveries, as well as working in the kitchen. Our Mission offering will be for this worthy organization in September.
To refresh your memories – Corning Meals on Wheels is a neighbors-helping-neighbors solution in the fight against senior hunger and isolation. The volunteers help prepare and deliver meals for 125 - 135 homebound and frail older adults in the greater Corning-Painted Post area each weekday. Each week, nearly 200 volunteers donate their time and talent helping area seniors age safely in place.
MOW provides this much needed nutrition with very little government funding, covering less than 16% of the cost of providing the meals. Thanks to generous donors and caring volunteers, they prepared and delivered 61,609 meals for 294 different seniors in 2022. They are on track to match that number again in 2023, and they can always use more help. Please consider donating today, so that no senior goes hungry.
